This is, without doubt, one of the oldest properties in the area. This quaint traditional fisherman's cottage with its own garden, has been in the Stewart family for well over a century and a half. Now lovingly restored by Geoff Stewart, an accomplished carpenter, the cottage has been brought into the 21st century but retains many of its original features and much of its character, not least in its furnishings, many pieces are family heirlooms like the gorgeous marble topped wash stands dotted about the place and the fantastic bed linen which has also been in the family for years - rich white embroidered cotton which is personally laundered by Pat to ensure its pristine condition.
Only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage and you are on the top of the harbour wall, where seating is provided so you can while away the hours watching the toings and froings of harbour life, or stretch your legs on the beautiful beaches which run North and South and are ideal for leisurely walks, or for those more adventurous try the 6 mile return beach walk to Bamburgh, or the 14 mile return journey to Newton by the Sea (great pub awaits for the mid walk break).
The cottage is close to all the village amenities - shops, butchers, bakers, pubs & restaurants, newsagents, petrol station, library, resource centre for internet access, takeaways, and the harbour where you can leave on excursions to visit the Farne Islands, to see puffins (June & July), grey seals and many other species of birds. The area is popular with birdwatchers and photographers.
