One of only 30 or so holiday cottages which have uninterrupted views overlooking the sea in this beautiful village of Beadnell on the North Northumberland Coast. The Haven is owned by descendants of one of the oldest families in the area and is a much loved holiday cottage. Light and airy, with neutral decor and stripped wood floors, tasteful stripped pine furniture and comfortable lounge furniture, quality beds and bed linens, the cottage offers very spacious accommodation for 4 people. We welcome families, friends holidaying together, or interest groups, though sorry the house is not equipped to meet the needs of divers. Birdwatchers, walkers, golfers and those generally interested in exploring the beautiful Northumberland Coast are well catered for here, and Beadnell is central enough to explore Northumberland's much undiscovered interior as well, being only 45 minutes from the National Park, 30 minutes from Berwick upon Tweed and 20 minutes from Alnwick.

Beadnell is a small village on the North Northumberland coast situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Once thriving as a fishing village and making its mark as a centre for the trade of lime and grain, its main thrust today is tourism, although some of the original fishing families still run boats from the pretty harbour over which stands guard the now redundant lime kilns.
The village has a pub, a hotel, both of which serve good ale and food, a post office / convenience store and a small cafe serving delightful offerings like huge cream filled meringues and cream teas and hot broth on colder autumn days.
Beadnell is a great base - it is steeped in history - just get talking to a local and they'll exude the tales of fisher folk, farmers and the herring lasses that followed the fleet down from Scotland in the hay day of the herring and the infamous Kipper, the Border Reivers, the Scots and the Vikings and the battles that made northern england.
There's the tranquility too, beautiful expanses of unspoilt beach, ideal for water sports and the village has its own launch facilities for leisure craft. Only 2 miles north is the busier village of Seahouses from where you can take trips to the Farne Islands, sample locally made ice cream and treat yourself to Fish and Chips whilst watching the days activities in the harbour. Or walk or cycle along the coastal path North and South, visit Castles, gardens, and find out about our religious heritage. Sample good local produce from local suppliers and marvel at the works of local artists in one of the galleries dotted along the coast.

"Another lovely stay. Staff helped when a stormy night produced an additional 'water feature'!! We will be returning. "

    Bennetto bunch - Nov 2016

"I have visited Beadnell many times and spent all my school holidays here in Beadnell Links caravan site. This short break has been a trip down memory lane for me and an introduction to Beadnell for my husband. Staying at The Haven has been great, we have had everything we have needed. The location of the property could not have been better. I have loved the sea views and our dog has enjoyed his first holiday at the seaside. The open fire was a highlight and it took me back to days spent at my grandparents' home. We hae loved our 5 days and would love to come back soon."

    The Hewits - Nov 2016

"Fantastic short break - the weather has been superb - not a drop of rain. Great visits to Bamburgh Castle, Craster and Holy Island. Beadnell has captured our hearts and we will definitely be back!"

    The Windles - Oct 2016

"Our first visit to Northumberland and delighted with our choice of The Haven. Unlike many hotel rooms, the heating was on and the cottage was warm and welcoming when we arrived. We've had lovely walks on the beach here and at Budle Bay and on Holy Island. We've dodged the showers but appreciated the drying rack after being caught in the rain a couple of times. All-in-all 4 nights has not been long enough but after this taster we will be back next year for a longer stay."

    The Storeys - Oct 2016

"We have had a super week walking on all the local beaches. This is a super spot to stay - so convenient and comfortable. We will certainly want to come back. "

    The Smiths - Sep 2016

"Had a lovely stay and have walked miles - beautiful beaches and scenery. The Haven is a wonderful place to stay and is very well equipped. Will hopefully be back soon. Thank you."

    Stevens family - Aug 2016

"Our second visit to Beadnell and The Haven. It certainly lived up to all our expectations from the moment we unpacked we felt relaxed and 'at home'. The sunsets have been amazing - breathtaking in fact, especially the night when we lit a fire on the beach and sat watching the sky change colour. A memory for our daughters. All sad to be going home."

    Higham family - Aug 2016

"We have had a lovely time! Our second year in this cottage! It's a beautiful coastal location and has been very relaxing. We have especially enjoyed waking up in the morning to the sea views. The cottage was wonderful and we look forward to coming back to Northumberland. Thank you!"

    Barr family - Jul 2016

"We have enjoyed our stay very much, although not long enough. The cottage is very nice and lovely position. It's very roomy, we are used to staying in small cottages. It is very comfortable and relaxing and has everything we needed. The views are lovely and the shop is really useful and convenient. Lovely walk to Seahouses - very nice little town. The cottage and garden are ideal for us and the dogs, and combined with everything else, made for a perfect holiday."

    The Dangerfields - Jun 2016

"A beautiful location with stunning views. The Haven has everything you could possibly need. We have had a wonderful week in spite of the clouds and unseasonable cold!"

    The Childs - Jun 2016

"Each year The Haven gets better - warmer, comfortable, well stocked and wonderfully well sited with the calming influence of the Longstone Light in the late evenings. All beaches fabulous for walks and dogs. Can't beat it!"

    The Cazalets - May 2016

"Had a great week despite the terrible weather. We stayed next door last year at Topcliffe, loved the area, so decided to give The Haven a try - we weren't disappointed! The cottage is fantastic, well equipped and the most amazing views. Love the area, so will be back."

    The Coopers - Apr 2016

"Had a lovely mini-break with our 2 teenage boys. Thanks for the Welcome Pack. A well-stocked house, with everything you could need. Beautiful coastline."
