Description

Large traditional detached farmhouse situated on Holy Island. A holiday home with a difference - there is something ethereal about being "stranded" on an island. The tide cuts the island off twice a day (see safe crossing times which vary with the tides), and when the tide recedes revealing the causeway, you can drive on and off the island and explore more of the County.

So when you are on the island you'll find quite a bit to do. The Priory, the small independent shops, the Lindisfarne Mead distillery, two pubs which both serve food, two cafes, a post office store, there are many walks around and across the island, and the area is a mecca for wildlife lovers, photographers and dark skies enthusiasts. Reviews

This was our third visit to St Coombs. The house was surprisingly warm and there was no need to light the fire except for ambiance.

Mr S,

This is a wonderful place to stay. Plenty of room, warm and comfortable. Well equipped kitchens - I would not have attempted to use the Aga so that electric cooker was a brilliant addition. A lot of care has gone into making this farmhouse very welcoming. For just the two of us and our little dog, it was excessively large but we had decided we wanted to stay there and we have no regrets. It's very convenient for the little post office/cafe and the Ship pub which is fantastic. The post office does a wonderful breakfast and is very reasonably priced. The Ship offers good pub grub. The Manor Hotel has a more sophisticated menu but is equally unpretentious and only slightly further to walk. I think this must be one of the best places to stay on the island.

Ms S,

Cottage was lovely and very cosy with the Aga . There was a storm which caused lounge , kitchen and main bedroom window frames to leak .

Mrs G,

A truly wonderful place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of the pre Xmas rush and just relax in the peaceful tranquility of Holy Island. A real family retreat in a traditional farmhouse, great for families and very dog friendly.

Mr O,

We love this Island and this property. Have stayed at various rentals over the years on Lindisfarne, but this is the one we keep going back to again and again. Very comfortable and cosy, everything you need, plenty of parking space and very private but only a few minutes walk to pub :-) and beach, dunes.

Mr A,

Lovely holiday cottage in a good area on Holy Island. Ideal for walks from doorstep. Fantastic to be able to use an Aga on holiday so felt very much home from home.

Mrs W,

Beautiful farmhouse in excellent location on Holy Island. The farmhouse is very spacious very well equipped. Very cosy & very homely. Plenty of bird life too. Certainly a place you should visit for the peace & tranquility

Mrs K,

Perfect location for walking and exploring g ghe islan. A great place in a storm. Comfortable and lacking nothing that you'd need.

Dr W,

The house is lovely- so quiet- except for a cockerel that woke us each morning!!! Staying on the island was magical- especially when the day trippers have to go home!

Mr O,

Fabulous location and great stay for those looking for an authentic farmhouse experience. We particularly enjoyed trying our hand at cooking with the Aga in the well equipped kitchen, and relaxing in the conservatory looking out over the large garden. The position is excellent, with an unobstructed view of the castle from the entrance to the property. The property is a short walk from the village, with the feel of a real get away BUT close enough to walk to the pubs, which sell excellent food. We would definitely stay there again.

Mr S,

Holy Island is just magical. The property was perfect for us although we struggled to get used to the Aga (Thankfully there was an electric cooker in the utility room.). Great property for families with dogs. We loved it.

Mrs Linda U,

Great service and excellent detail around the property facilities. Property was perfect and exactly what expected from the online photos and descriptions.

Mr Duncan S,

Booking process was clear and user friendly and the on going communication reassuring and helpful.

Mrs Sarah G,

Thank you for providing a comfortable stay - and good wifi!

Angie and c,

This is a really comfortable place to stay. After coming to the island for several years now, 10 days here is simply not long enough!

Previous g,

What a fabulous place!! We felt so at home the minute we arrived. We have been to the island before and have always loved it but staying at St Coomb's made our stay even better! We wish we didn't have to leave. Our two dogs really enjoyed the space and after our long walks collapsed in front of the fire! We will definitely be back! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your marvelous farmhouse!

The A,

Had a wonderful tie in this lovely, spacious and well equipped farmhouse. Loved the tranquility, our walks, watching the birds etc! A most relaxing holiday - we will definitely return to this amazing part of the world!

John and family,

We first fell in love with Holy Island on a bitter November day in 1996 and have been visiting ever since. We have stayed regularly on the island itself but this is the first time in St Coomb's Farmhouse. The house is certainly one of the best of several we have ever stayed in. We have had a lovely week. We will definitely return to Holy Island and hopefully to St Coomb's Farmhouse!

Ruth and family,

We have stayed on the island a few times now and came across this cottage while walking the dogs. Our usual cottage was booked up so we decided to try St Coombs, how lucky we were. This place is outstanding in every respect, location for walks, private and a luxury on holy island, parking. The property was clean, comfortable and warm all day long thanks to the Aga in the lovely cottage style kitchen. We all loved everything about this place and will be booking again for next year.

Mr Philip A,

All-in-all, we very much enjoyed staying at St Coombs, and have booked again for next year. It's a very comfortable house, perfectly placed on the island. It combines a comfortable family accommodation with all that's needed to enjoy the island's wildlife and extraordinary landscape and history. A couple of issues with equipment: (1) The light bulbs in the kitchen - neither of the two lights towards the window seem to work at all, and (2) the video doesn't seem compatible with the TV - takes a lot of messing around to make them work together!

Dr Richard W,
