This beautiful Northumbrian holiday cottage is an amazing example of a contemporary renovation in a traditional shell.. this is, without doubt, one of the oldest properties in the area, this quaint traditional fisherman's cottage has been in the Stewart family for well over a century and a half.
Now lovingly restored by Geoff Stewart, an accomplished carpenter, the holiday cottage has been brought right into the 21st century
with a modern well equipped finish. Whilst retaining features such as the inglenook fireplace, Geoff and Pat have undertaken a full and thorough renovation of this cottage, even down to handcrafting the latch doors throughout..
The workmanship is stunning. The cottage is compact and functional, that's the tradition of the cottages the fisher folk lived in, but Pat and Geoff have made sure that you've all the convenience and quality you'd expect and more,
in this quaint home from home.
The facilities :- Entering through a little arch in the traditional courtyard of Craster Square,
you come straight into the contemporary world,
t - the open hall way and kitchen/living area, yet it has a cosy feel,
- neutral decor,
- squidgy sofas,
- feature fire place with woodburning stove,
- beautiful oak floor.
- modern white kitchen units are filled with all the functional crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils you'll need.
- An electric cooker, microwave, fridge are all housed in the kitchen,
- utility items like washer, drier and
freezer, are out of the way in the utility area, thus minimising noise invasion on the main living space.
- Full shower room with whb and wc.
- The lounge with its wall mounted Freeview TV , DVD,
MP3 player, Radio and CD player has french doors leading to
- the conservatory, a comfy room with dining table and access to the enclosed patio/garden and
- children's play area beyond which is shared with Clamshell Cottage next door.
Upstairs are: - master bedroom south facing with sea views, and with the option of Super Kingsize double or twin beds,
- second bedroom is a twin which overlooks the courtyard
- Both rooms share the Jack n Jill style bathroom (lockable from both sides - obviously).
- Quality bed linens, sumptuous towels and a good range of toiletries.
Whilst this cottage has been lovingly renovated, in the contemporary style, it stil oozes character, with low beams upstairs and little nooks and crannies which have been ingeniously used for storage and hanging areas. Its the little personal touches that make this holiday cottage and its partner Clamshell next door, just that bit different.
Both properties can be rented together to accommodate up to 10 people.
Pat and Geoff live in the Square and will be happy to advise you on the virtues of living in this village which has so much to offer. If its history you are interested in you've definitely come to the right place, Geoff is probably the font of all local knowledge and will be happy to give you a tour of the local historic hotspots (by arrangement). He is also a very accomplished artist. If you've kids they will be very welcome, the cottage has its own patio area outside the conservatory and through the little gate is a children's play area exceptionally well equipped whether to play in the garden or down on the beach. The play area is shared between the two cottages, is fenced and can be seen from the conservatories and patios. Back in the lounge, Pat and Geoff have provided local information, books, cd's, jigsaws, games and videos for all ages, and with kids safety in mind you'll find all sorts of things to make the cottage child friendly during your stay, like plug stoppers and window restrainers.
What is included: - - Electricity
- Bedding, bed linen and towels in fact
everything else for your stay,
- and if you forget the toothpaste you'll even find an emergency basket with most things in it even down to the sewing kit if a button drops off.
- Pat also provides a welcome tea tray - a welcome treat after a long journey.
- Cot (no linen provided) can be provided by arrangement.

| We had a great stay - the cottage has everything we needed as a family and so comfy. We loved the leisure centre and were lucky with the weather - what more could we ask for! |

Situated in the oldest part of Seahouses, in a quiet location near the harbour and cliff top walks, forming part of an "old fishing square" Only 50 yards outside the courtyard and you are on the top of the harbour wall, where seating is provided so you can while away the hours watching the toings and froings of harbour life, or stretch your legs on the beautiful beaches which run North and South and are ideal for leisurely walks, or for those more adventurous try the 6 mile return beach walk to Bamburgh, or the 14 mile return journey to Newton by the Sea (great pub awaits for the mid walk break). The cottage is close to all the village amenities - shops, butchers, bakers (no candlestick maker tho), pubs & restaurants, newsagents, petrol station, library, resource centre for internet access, takeaways, and the harbour where you can leave on excursions to visit the Farne Islands, to see Puffins (June & July), Grey Seals and many other species of birds. The area is popular with birdwatchers and photographers. Just 2.5 miles up the coast by road is Bamburgh and its wonderful castle on a rocky outcrop overlooking the beach, and 15 miles south you'll find Alnwick Castle and Garden a popular spot for those with green fingers, and Harry Potter fans (the castle was Hogwarts and the site of the quiddich pitch in the 1st two films).
