One of only 30 or so holiday cottages which have uninterrupted views overlooking the sea in this beautiful village of Beadnell on the North Northumberland Coast. Beadnell is a small village on the North Northumberland coast situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Once thriving as a fishing village and making its mark as a centre for the trade of lime and grain, its main thrust today is tourism, although some of the original fishing families still run boats from the pretty harbour over which stands guard the now redundant lime kilns.
The village has
a pub, a hotel, both of which serve good ale and food, a post office / convenience store and a small cafe serving delightful offerings like huge cream filled meringues and cream teas and hot broth on colder autumn days.
Beadnell is a great base - it is steeped in history - just get talking to a local and they'll exude the tales of fisher folk, farmers and the herring lasses that followed the fleet down from Scotland in the hay day of the herring and the infamous Kipper, the Border Reivers, the Scots and the Vikings and the battles that made northern england. There's the tranquility too, beautiful expanses of unspoilt beach, ideal for water sports and the village has its own launch facilities for leisure craft. Only 2 miles north is the busier village of Seahouses from where you can take trips to the Farne Islands, sample locally made ice cream and treat yourself to Fish and Chips whilst watching the days activities in
the harbour. Or walk or cycle along the coastal path North and South, visit Castles, gardens, and find out about our religious heritage.
Sample good local produce from local suppliers and marvel at the works of local artists in one of the galleries dotted along the coast.
