The District of Alnwick is perhaps the most central point in Northumberland for anyone looking to get the most out of their holiday and experience all that Northumberland has to offer. Both the Northumberland coast and countryside are within easy reach from here and provide plenty of fun-filled days out for all to enjoy. Not forgetting, the fantastic Northumberland eateries with some lovely restaurants, cafés and bistros; both in Alnwick and the surrounding villages, serving a delicious selection of food using local produce.

Alnwick has lots to offer holidaymakers with the well-loved Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden attractions, Barter Books – one of the Uk’s largest second hand book stores set in an old Victorian railway station and the WIllowburn Leisure Centre. Inside the town centre, known locally as ‘Bondgate Within’ you will find pretty cobbled streets and a fantastic range of high street outlets alongside boutique shops and traditional tearooms.

Northumberland has an award-winning AONB heritage coastline with picture postcard seaside villages and towns dotted along this stunning stretch of North East coastline including Alnmouth, Warkworth and Amble and stunning countryside walks and cycle trails are readily accessible in nearby towns and villages such as Wooler, which lies at the foothills of the Cheviots and beautiful riverside villages like Rothbury which offers easy access to the Simonside Hills and the National Trust’s impressive Cragside House Estate and Gardens, former home of the Victorian inventor, Lord Armstrong.

Further inland, explore the Northumberland National Park which has been awarded one of the largest Dark Sky Parks in Europe and further North along the coastline, explore the Scottish Border towns and North Northumberland coastal villages, such as: Holy Island, Bamburgh, Seahouses and Beadnell.
