Explore the castle and grounds (which have recently become dog friendly!), enjoy a picnic or a bite to eat in the café and take in the fantastic coastal views from the castle grounds. After exploring the castle, make your way across the sandy dunes onto the magnificent beach. Bamburgh beach is always a popular spot with locals and holidaymakers, yet as with all Northumberland beaches they are never overcrowded and there is always lots of space to relax, fly a kite, build sandcastles, discover the hidden treasures in rockpools and enjoy a refreshing stroll with your pooch. The views from the beach are fantastic with the Farne Islands and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne both visible from the shore.
A visit to The RNLI Grace Darling Museum is a must during your stay. Learn all about the life of Victorian Britain’s most celebrated local heroine - Grace Darling, who risked her life to save the lives of stranded survivors of a wrecked steamship stranded off the Farne Islands. Learn all about Grace’s story and the events that happened on that stormy night. See some of Grace’s personal belongings, letters and even the famous Coble boat used in the rescue. Across the road from the centre is the 12th century St Aidan's church where you can visit the prominent stone memorial to Grace Darling.
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Budle Bay, Seahouses, Beadnell and the Scottish Borders are all within easy reach from your holiday cottage in Bamburgh and are great places to visit during your stay.
