This charming detached stone built cottage, set in three quarters of an acre of land, is surrounded by unspoilt countryside in the hamlet of Spindlestone, next to the Waren Burn which flows under the nearby Spindlestone bridge.  Step into the garden and listen to the pheasants croaking and the babbling burn. Visitors often say that Spindlestone has its own very special sound.

At the front of Spindlestone Cottage you have the original sitting room with its open fire, next to the two bedrooms, a twin and a double. Behind them is the refurbished bathroom and kitchen which extends into a new sunny dining and sitting area which spills onto the secluded back garden. Guests can also enjoy the large tiered front and rear gardens and the games room with pool, darts and table tennis, perfect for the very occasional rainy day.

Most guests rent the cottage on its own as a charming secluded space for two or four guests, but it is sometimes rented with the adjacent Spindlestone House for large gatherings of friends or families.  Smart TVs with Netflix are included in all Bamburgh First properties as is a portable Bose Bluetooth speaker, easy lighting fire logs and a box of games including Scrabble, Cluedo and Monopoly.

The owner has also provided personal touches such as a sweetie tin, a bottle of wine, a voucher for a pound of the famous Bamburgh Banger sausages and his own list of the top 21 things to do whilst spending a week in the area.

Spindlestone is situated half a mile inland from the Budle Bay bird sanctuary and less than a ten minutes drive from the historic seaside village of Bamburgh where the famous castle towers over miles of sandy beaches to the North and the village green to the West. Bamburgh was recently a finalist in Channel 4’s UK’s Top Village competition. There you will find a lovely selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, tea houses and cafes as well as one of the most scenic golf clubs - Bamburgh Castle Golf Club. Guests of Bamburgh First can claim up to two free rounds of golf per property booked at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club - please see below for more information. Free games of Tennis underneath the castle on the village green are also provided to guests of Bamburgh First along with membership and discounted access to a gym and leisure club.

The market town of Alnwick with its historic Castle, Alnwick Gardens and the famous Barter Books, is 20 minutes away by car.  The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is 25 minutes to the North, and the Cheviot Hills 20 minutes to the West.  Seahouses with its boat trips to the Farnes is 15 minutes away and it’s also easy to reach all the pretty fishing towns on the coastline, including Craster (home of the Kipper), Newton by the Sea, Alnmouth and Amble. Hadrian’s wall is less than two hours to the South. Great pubs abound in this area, The Waren House Hotel is a lovely place to go for dinner and is only half a mile away.
