Description

Spindlestone House is part of the Bamburgh First collection of 17 different houses and cottages under the same ownership and with a consistent quality of interior design and attention to detail throughout. The interiors are professionally designed to suit each individual dwelling and the owner has tried to think of everything that will enhance the stay of every guest.

This charming detached stone built country house, set in three quarters of an acre of land, is surrounded by unspoilt countryside in the hamlet of Spindlestone, next to the Waren Burn which flows under the nearby Spindlestone bridge. Step into the garden and listen to the pheasants croaking and the babbling burn. Visitors often say that Spindlestone has its own very special sound.

Sleeping up to 10 guests, Spindlestone House is set over two floors, with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, a large traditional dining room and elegant sitting room. It has tiered gardens, a hot tub, games room, orangery, outside patio, and summer house. It’s perfect for family occasions, friends getting together and even the odd sophisticated :) hen party.  It can, if you wish, be booked alongside the adjacent Spindlestone Cottage.

Netflix is included in all Bamburgh First properties as is a portable Bose Bluetooth speaker, easy lighting fire logs and a box of games which includes Scrabble, Cluedo and Monopoly. The owner has also provided personal touches such as a sweetie tin, a bottle of wine, a voucher for a pound of the famous Bamburgh Banger sausages, and his own list of the top 21 things to do whilst spending a week in the area.

Spindlestone is situated half a mile inland from the Budle Bay bird sanctuary and less than a ten minutes drive from the historic seaside village of Bamburgh where the famous castle towers over miles of sandy beaches to the North and the village to the West. Bamburgh was recently a finalist in Channel 4’s UK’s Top Village competition. There you will find a lovely selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, tea houses and cafes as well as one of the most scenic golf clubs in Britain. Visitors can claim up to two free rounds of golf per property booked at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club - please see below for more information. Free games of Tennis underneath the castle on the village green are also provided to guests of Bamburgh First, along with membership and discounted access to a gym and leisure club is also provided.

The market town of Alnwick with its historic (Hogwarts) Castle, Alnwick Gardens and the famous Barter Books, is 20 minutes away by car.  The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is 25 minutes to the North, and the Cheviot Hills 20 minutes to the West.

Seahouses with its boat trips to the Farne islands is 15 minutes away and it’s also easy to reach all the pretty fishing towns on the coastline including, Craster (home of the Kipper), Newton by the Sea, Alnmouth and Amble. Hadrian’s wall is less than two hours to the south.  Great pubs abound in this area.
