Built in the late 19th century to accommodate the families of workers renovating nearby Bamburgh Castle, this deceptively spacious Grade II listed cottage is situated on the southern outskirts of the coastal village of Bamburgh, a short walk across the dunes to a magnificent sandy beach. The cottage provides contemporary well designed holiday accommodation with an exceptionally large lawned garden to the rear and is in a quiet location with fields behind. The amenities of the village are within walking distance and 2 miles south is the bustling fishing port of Seahouses from where boat trips to the Farne Islands are available. Budle Bay, 1 mile north, is home to a wide variety of native and migratory wading birds. The many historic castles which are a feature of this part of Northumberland are all within easy reach by car. Wind surfing, sailing, horse riding and fishing can be enjoyed locally and the area has several splendid golf courses.

The Armstrong Cottages are very unique and historic as we discovered as they were built by and for the artisans working to renovate the castle in the 1895s and ours was spacious and well equipped. It was a delight with dogs as it had a very large enclosed garden which they loved. The fabulous Bamburgh beach is just 5 minutes walk across the road and the dunes, another heaven for dogs to run free. Close to Bamburgh Castle and the pretty village. A great base to explore this lovely part of coastal Northumbria, including for us, Holy Island , Dunstanburgh Castle, Berwick, and the Farne Islands
