Station House in Christon Bank is the perfect holiday home for train enthusiasts, full of railway memorabilia. This converted railway station situated only yards from the railway line boasts an enclosed sitting area on the original train platform. The station operated between 1847 and 1965 and today trains travelling on the East Coast main line can be seen speeding by. Memorabilia adorning the property includes original signage in original livery, taken from Chathill, the closest nearby station.
Christon Bank is only a five minute drive to the picturesque coastal village of Embleton which has an unspoilt sandy beach. From Embleton Bay you can walk north towards Newton by the Sea, or south along the beach to Dunstanburgh Castle or Craster. There is a great selection of places to eat and drink nearby, including Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club, The Ship Inn at Newton by the Sea, or The Jolly Fisherman in Craster.
Please note: Station House is only yards away from a live railway line. This means that many high speed & freight trains travel on this route daily. All windows and doors are double glazed, but there is noise and vibration regularly from the trains and nearby railway crossing.
