Situated about 1 mile from the village of Heddon-on-the-Wall, The Gatehouse is a romantic Northumberland cottage for anyone wishing to walk parts of Hadrian’s Wall and visit the many Roman Forts and museums along its length. This cottage is a perfect retreat to unwind after exploring the many nearby Roman Forts including Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters. Walking, fishing and golf all available locally.
10 miles west is the market town of Hexham, famous for its medieval Abbey. A picturesque route along the North Tyne valley leads to Kielder Water with its numerous leisure facilities such as sailing, windsurfing and fishing and miles of forest tracks.
