You can also buy your own local produce from many farmers markets and local shops in the area so that you too can cook a delicious Northumbrian meal for you and your family back at your holiday cottage. Whether it be morning treats such as fresh eggs from a local farm, or bread using flour ground in one of the area’s oldest working water mills; Picnic treats such as Northumberland cheese sandwiches and Northumbrian Bakehouse biscuits to teatime delights; including a range of fresh seafood like Lindisfarne Oysters, smoked Craster Kippers and tasty Bamburgh Bangers. Out and about in Northumberland, stop off in the many lovely villages and towns and try a delicious ice cream from one of the award-winning ice cream parlours including Doddington’s, Spurelli’s and Morwick’s.

Enjoy a selection of hot and cold locally produced drinks, whether your ideal drink is more a cup of Earl Grey tea from Howick Hall (home of the Earl Grey tea) or a Pilgrim’s Coffee from Holy Island to a refreshing cold beverage such as a Fentimans traditional fizzy drink over ice.  Local tipples are plentiful with micro-brewery ales from the popular Ship Inn at Low Newton and a visit the island of Lindisfarne, to try its very own local speciality – Lindisfarne Mead.
