Located in the upper reaches of the Derwent Valley above the picturesque village of Blanchland these converted barns are furnished and equipped to an excellent standard. Only minutes away is the Derwent Reservoir, stocked with an abundance of rainbow trout. It is a popular fishing venue also offering water sports, sailing, hiking and a picnic area. The area has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Geopark with it's vast areas of high, wild moorland and many dramatic geological features such as England's largest waterfall, High Force, and the sweeping U-shaped valley of High Cup Gill on the Pennine Way dominating the region. A stunning range of birds can be observed such as Black Grouse, Peregrine and Short Eared Owls, bird watchers will be in their element. This is perfect country for outdoor activities, with bridleways to explore and the C2C National Cycle Route passing close by. Hexham, 11 miles, has an excellent range of amenities, a theatre, cinema, swimming pool and an athletic running track. There are good bus and rail links from Hexham to the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne. This cosmopolitan capital of the North-East offers both exciting and cultural entertainment with varied musical performances at The Sage, Gateshead. The Baltic Arts Centre hosts one of the biggest contemporary art spaces in Europe, also enjoy the many lively waterfront restaurants, bars and night clubs along the quayside.
