Nestled in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by woodlands and farmland 5 Station Cottages was built around 1860 and lies on the Derwent Walk, well known for the coast to coast cycle route, a ramblers route and a Red Kite Trail. This railway cottage has many quaint features with part of the original railway platform in the garden, a cosy log burning stove set in a stone inglenook fireplace and a retro style unfitted kitchen.  The pretty cottage garden is where you have the opportunity to experience a wood fired hot tub, ideal for relaxing in the evening. There are some local pubs serving good food close by and a good selections of shops in Consett.  Durham City 25 minutes drive, Beamish Open Air Museum 20 minutes drive and the Gibside National Trust woodland gardens only 5 minutes drive.  For those who enjoy the Catherine Cookson novels the medieval village of Blanchland is about 20 minutes by car, this has been the setting for many of the books.

Ground Floor:

Living Area One step up from the kitchen with original stone flagged floor with rugs, small table and 2 chairs, comfortable seating, wood burning stove, TV and French doors out to the garden.

Kitchen Vintage retro restored kitchen with tiled floor and 50's styled free standing kitchen cupboards, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave. (There is a launderette nearby)

First Floor:

Bedroom 1 with wooden floor, double bed, TV, side tables, wardrobe.

Bedroom 2  with wooden floor, single bed, bedside table.

Bathroom with vinyl floor, p-shaped bath with over bath shower attachment, hand basin and WC.

Outdoor space: Enclosed garden with wood fired hot tub. There is a wood fired hot tub available for guests. Please ask the owner about using the hot tub before arrival so this can be prepared, there is a charge by the owner for wood, setting up and use.

Parking: Private off road parking for 1 car.

Heating: Propane gas central heating and wood burning stove.

Also provided: Linen and Towels. WiFi available. 

Pets: One small dog welcome @£25 per week or part thereof. Please note pets are not allowed on the furniture or to be left in the property unsupervised.

NB the staircase is steep and splits half way up, one side to bath room and the other side to the bedrooms - Not suitable for small children or guests with mobility issues. The property is accessed down a farm track. Hot tub usage is for 2 sessions only Friday and Saturday nights price is £80 - £100 depending on time of year.
