Just 2.5 miles up the coast by road is Bamburgh and its wonderful castle on a rocky outcrop overlooking the beach, and 15 miles south you'll find Alnwick Castle and Garden a popular spot for those with green fingers, and Harry Potter fans (the castle was Hogwarts and the site of the quiddich pitch in the 1st two films).

"Third year we've stayed in Cliff Cottages and just as good as usual. Great beach walk from Low Newton to Dunstanburgh Castle, good food and beer at the Ship Inn; Low Newton and enjoyed a quiz night at the Black Swan in Seahouses on a Thursday! Lovely crab sandwiches from Rosemary's Cafe in Seahouses and a very friendly pint at Bamburgh Castle Hotel - all of these are very dog friendly. We'll be back! "

"Lovely, cosy place to stay. Thank you for biscuits as we arrived, thought that was a nice touch. Northumberland is a beautiful place, the coastline is stunning. Fantastic base for a wonderful holiday. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone. Belle also said thank you for her welcome pack which she really enjoyed, woof woof! "

Helen, Kevin and Belle - Sep 2017

"First holiday after 2 daughters and 28 years of marriage! We have enjoyed sunny, dry weather all week. We preferred Pinnacles for Fish and Chips, and The Spice House for an Indian. The Ship has a lovely beer garden, good quality and reasonably prices food. The Victoria Hotel at Bamburgh do a tasty seafood platter for 2. Our dogs Dolly and Lottie loved the wind in their ears on our boat trip to visit Grace Darling's lighthouse. We saw seals however missed the last puffins by a week! Thank you for the little welcome touches. "

Donald and Elisa - Aug 2017

"Our sixth year here and very enjoyable again, although the weather hasn't been too kind to us this year. Thank you for the welcome pack, very much appreciated. "

Ann, Tessa and Deborah - Aug 2017

Heather, Damian and Charlie the Dog - Jul 2017

"Booked cottage on friend's recommendation and not disappointed - cosy to come back to on a cold, wet days, very clean and comfy bed. Highlights of the week were the beach walk to Bamburgh (in sunshine - yay!), Inner Farne boat trip, (Puffins especially), and Cragside House - probably the most interesting NT property we've visited. Second half of week very cold, windy and wet but some spectacular waves and spray over the sea walls as a result. Welcome pack on arrival was much appreciated. Thanks to all concerned. PS, Booking and Information supplied through Stay Northumbria was excellent. "
