Paddle of Britain
Its not often that an owner makes it to the pole position on our website, its a position more usually occupied by a pretty Northumbrian Cottage or stunning scenery.
But owner Dan Smith set out on a tremendous personal challenge on 29th August 2018 which we think is worthy of a huge bit of kudos.
At just before 9am he entered the water at the Kyle of Durness in the far north of Scotland on the start of his solo 910mile, 60 day journey to Littlehampton on the South Coast.
He's aim to raise £25,000 for the British Legion a charity close to his heart.
Dan will paddle solo in his kayak on waterways for as much of the journey as possible and then transport himself, his kayak and all of his gear, single handedly on foot with the help of a specially designed trolley, traversing the land sections of the route.
Dan is now (19th September) just approaching the Scottish/English border via the River Tweed, the midway point of his journey is just a little further south in Cumbria where he will traverse the region via the Lake District and onward towards the South Coast.
This is a journey which has been over a year in the planning, we wish Dan all the very best in his challenge
